Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe is Novomatic’s underwater classic: ten lines, a Dolphin Wild that doubles wins, a Pearl scatter that pays up to 500x the bet and 15 free games with every win tripled.
Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe is one of those slots that has been in casino lobbies for so long it feels part of the furniture. It is Novomatic’s deluxe version of an underwater classic, with ten lines, a Dolphin that doubles any win it helps create, and 15 free games where every prize is tripled. There are no cascades, no meters and no buy feature. It is a straightforward slot built around one bonus, and it remains popular because that bonus can pay very well.
If you grew up with arcade-style casino machines, the game will feel familiar immediately. If you are used to modern grid slots, it may feel almost bare. Either way, the maths underneath is worth understanding, because Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe plays very differently from how it looks.

The reels sit on a deep blue underwater background. The high pays are sea creatures: a manta ray and a lobster at the top, then a seahorse, a single fish and a school of fish. Card values from Ace to Nine fill out the lower pays. The Dolphin is the Wild and the shimmering Pearl is the scatter.
The presentation is simple and clean. Animations are short, the sounds are classic Novomatic chimes, and the screen is easy to read on a phone. This is a slot where nothing gets in the way of the result.
There are ten paylines. A winning combination must start on the leftmost reel and run to the right with matching symbols directly next to each other. Only the highest win on each line is paid.
The Dolphin substitutes for every symbol except the Pearl, and it doubles the win whenever it helps form one. That makes it much more valuable than a standard Wild. Four lobsters on a line pay 125 times the line bet. Three lobsters and a Dolphin also make four of a kind, but because the Dolphin substitutes, the result is doubled to 250 times the line bet.
The Dolphin is also the best paying symbol in its own right. Five Dolphins on a line pay 9,000 times the line bet, far above the 750 times paid by five manta rays or five lobsters. Even two Dolphins on a line return 10 times the line bet. In practice, the Dolphin is where most of the game’s best base-game moments come from.
Novomatic’s paytable quotes line wins as multiples of the line bet, while scatter wins use the total bet. The difference matters when you read the numbers. With all ten lines active, the line bet is one tenth of your total stake. So five Dolphins at 9,000 times the line bet equal 900 times the total bet, and the free games top prize of 27,000 times the line bet equals 2,700 times the total bet on a single line.
Seen that way, five Pearls at 500 times the total bet are a much bigger deal than they first appear, worth more than half of the best possible base-game line. It also shows why everyday card wins of 5 or 10 times the line bet often return less than the spin cost.
The Pearl pays anywhere on the reels, based on the total bet, and its wins are added to any line wins:
That last figure is worth noticing. Five scatters is rare, but it is one of the few ways a slot like this can pay a large sum regardless of how the paylines look.
Three or more Pearls trigger 15 free games at the stake of the triggering spin. Every win during the round is tripled. Landing three or more Pearls during free games awards 15 more, so the round can extend.
The tripling applies to every win, which is what gives the feature its strength. A line of five manta rays pays 750 times the line bet in the base game, and 2,250 times the line bet in free games. The top prize in the feature, five Dolphins on a line, reaches 27,000 times the line bet.
At the same time, 15 spins on ten lines is not a huge number. Many rounds produce a series of small tripled wins and end modestly. The big results need Dolphins and premium symbols on the same lines during the round.
Novomatic’s specification gives two useful numbers. The hit frequency is about 25% when all ten lines are played, so roughly one spin in four pays something. Many of those wins are small, especially those made of card symbols, and some will be lower than the stake.
The free games feature lands on average about once every 230 to 270 games. That is an average across a very large number of spins, not a schedule. You may see two features within fifty spins, or go well past 500 without one. Planning your budget around this figure is sensible: if you can only afford 100 spins at your chosen stake, there is a good chance you will not see the bonus at all.
These two numbers explain the game’s character. The base game keeps ticking over with small wins, while most of the value is held back for the feature and for rare Dolphin lines. Expect long flat stretches broken by occasional jumps.
This is the most important point in the review. Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe exists in several RTP versions, and the casino decides which one you get. Novomatic lists versions returning 88.28%, 90.29%, 92.19%, 94.24%, 95.13%, 96.18% and 97.10%.
The gap between the lowest and highest version is large. Over a long session at the same stakes, an 88% version takes back far more than a 97% version. Unfortunately, the reels, sounds and features look identical in every version, so the only way to know is to check the game’s information or help screen, or ask the casino. Our guide to slot RTP explains why the difference matters and how to look for it.
Remember too that even the highest RTP is a long-term average across a huge number of spins. It does not tell you what will happen in a single session.
Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe belongs to Novomatic’s family of deluxe remakes, which updated well-known classics with cleaner graphics while keeping the original rules. It shares its structure with games like Book of Ra Deluxe and Lord of the Ocean: a short list of symbols, a single free games feature and simple rules. The underwater theme also links it to Lord of the Ocean, although that game uses an expanding symbol in its free games rather than a win-doubling Wild.
If you want something even simpler from the same studio, Sizzling Hot Deluxe strips away the bonus entirely. Our new review of Columbus Deluxe covers another deluxe classic, built around a ship that turns Wild in its free games. More from the studio is on our Novomatic page.
Picture a round triggered by three Pearls. The trigger itself pays five times the total bet. The first few free games bring a handful of card-symbol wins, each tripled, and a seahorse line. Midway through, a Dolphin lands on reel two and completes a four-symbol lobster line. Thanks to the Dolphin and the tripled feature wins, that single line outweighs everything else in the round.
Then picture the same round without the Dolphin. It still pays something, but the total may barely cover the spins it took to trigger it. That contrast is typical of the game: a modest feature most of the time, and occasionally one result that changes the session.
What works:
What doesn’t:
Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe is a classic for a reason. The Dolphin turns ordinary lines into exciting ones, the tripled free games can deliver real surprises, and the rules can be learned in a minute. It is not a modern slot and does not try to be. If you enjoy traditional machines and you can find a version with a good RTP, it still offers plenty of tension per spin. Check that figure first, then decide.
