Starburst Galaxy is a NetEnt video slot, the official cosmic sequel to Starburst. It released on 26 November 2024. The engine is new: a 5×5 board that opens to 7×7 in Galaxy Star. It is not a reskin of the 2012 5×3 game, and it is not Starburst XXXtreme.
Important: Gambling is for adults aged 18+ or the minimum legal age in your country. Gambling involves financial risk and should be treated as entertainment, not as a way to make money.
Wins pay when three or more matching symbols sit in a horizontal or vertical line, with no gaps, anywhere on the reels. The official win type is Lines. A payline count is not published. That is not a 10-line layout and it is not Cluster Pays.

Each win clears its symbols and lets new ones drop in. Consecutive wins can come from one paid spin. After a combination leaves, a Wild is placed at its centre: left-centre on an even-length horizontal win, upper-centre on an even-length vertical win. Shared centres get at least one Wild.
Wilds substitute for every symbol except Scatters. A line of three, four or five Wilds, with no other-symbol win, pays the top prize on the paytable.
The Feature Generator advances on each winning combination. After five consecutive wins it awards one feature, then waits for the next set of five. The five awards are Destroy, Random Wilds, Expanding Wilds, Line Transform and Upgrade.
Destroy takes one or more symbol types off the board. Random Wilds swap 3 to 9 payout symbols for Wilds. Expanding Wilds restack every Wild into three cells, vertically. Line Transform fills a full row or reel with one payout symbol. Upgrade steps one or more same-type symbols up the paytable.
Galaxy Star is the fifth award. The board opens to 7×7 and a 3×3 Starburst Wild is placed. Once that has been scored, winning symbols leave and 4 to 8 regular Wilds appear. Any leftover Feature Generator awards then run.
The Galaxy Metre starts with the 3×3 Wild. Each win adds to it. At 50, Galaxy Star is awarded again.
Mega Star starts when three Scatters land in the same spin. A 2×2 Starburst Wild is placed, then 2 to 5 regular Wilds. Scatter multipliers, when they appear, are x2, x3, x5, x10 or x25. They fill the Multiplier Collect Metre and apply to every remaining win in the round.
There is no listed free-spins bonus. Elevate Mega Star includes one free main-game spin that is guaranteed to include three Scatters; that wording belongs to the buy option, not to a separate free-spins feature.
Where the operator offers it, Elevate buys one of five options for the current round. Official prices and effects:
| Elevate option | Official cost | Official effect |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Boost | 3× bet | Higher chance of reaching Galaxy Star |
| Mega Star | 10× bet | Activates Mega Star; one free main-game spin guaranteed to include 3 Scatters |
| Boosted Mega Star | 50× bet | Mega Star plus the Multiplier Collect Metre; one free main-game spin guaranteed to include 3 Scatters, at least two with multipliers |
| Galaxy Star | 100× bet | Guarantees Galaxy Star |
| Galaxy Star Bonanza | 500× bet | Starts Galaxy Star with 5 Feature Generator features already awarded |
Availability varies by region. Buying a feature uses real money. It is not a way to make income.
The original Starburst released on 23 January 2012: 5×3, 10 lines, Win Both Ways, expanding wilds and a respin. Official RTP pages disagree by 0.01 (96.08% on NetEnt, 96.09% on Evolution). Listed max payout is 800× bet. Volatility is Low / Mid. The listed bet range is €0.10–€100.
Starburst XXXtreme (2021) is a separate high-volatility variant on a 5×3 grid, with a Random Wilds buy and XXXtreme Spins. Its listed max is 16,800×. It is a sibling, not Galaxy. Evolution also lists a land-based pair, classic Starburst plus Starburst Supernova.
Galaxy keeps the Starburst name and the wild-led feel. The engine is different: 5×5 to 7×7, Lines anywhere, Avalanche, Feature Generator, Galaxy Star, Mega Star, and a 17,288× listed cap.
Evolution’s 2024 annual report called Galaxy the top NetEnt release of that year, with more than 250,000 players in the first three days. That is launch context, not a promise about your session.
96.00% is the only RTP on the official pages. It is a long-run figure, not a session forecast. Check the in-game info panel at the casino you use. See what slot RTP actually means. Other operator RTP tiers are not listed on the official pages.
Evolution labels volatility Mid / High. The NetEnt record stores 8.4. Hit frequency is published at 24.00%. The listed max payout is 17,288× bet. A max-win frequency is not published.
Starburst Galaxy released on 26 November 2024. Elevate may still be off in some markets. When you choose an operator, start from real money online casinos and read the in-game info panel.
