Rise of Olympus Extreme is a 2025 Play’n GO grid slot where cascades raise a win multiplier, the gods help on dead spins, and free spins keep the multiplier growing up to x1000.
Rise of Olympus Extreme is the hard-edged version of a Play’n GO classic. You play on a 5×5 grid where three or more matching symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically, win and disappear. Every new drop raises a win multiplier, and in free spins that multiplier keeps building across spins up to x1000. Hades, Poseidon and Zeus step in on losing spins to rescue the round.
It launched in September 2025 and sits at 10 on Play’n GO’s own 1 to 10 volatility scale. That rating says almost everything about how it plays: long quiet stretches and a feature that can be enormous or disappointing.

Winning symbols are removed and the rest drop down. Each new drop increases the win multiplier, so a long chain gets more valuable as it goes. When a three-symbol win is removed, a Wild appears in the middle position of that win. Wilds can only be created this way, never landed. The multiplier can also randomly increase at the start of any round.
If the cascades clear the grid completely, you win an instant prize of 20x the total bet multiplied by the active multiplier. It does not happen often, but when it does in a long chain, it is the base game’s biggest moment.
Hand of God triggers at random on spins without a win. The active god decides what happens. Hades turns one set of symbols into another, Poseidon adds one or two Wilds, and Zeus removes two symbol sets from the grid. The gods rotate in a fixed order, Hades, Poseidon, then Zeus, and change after every activation.
In practice this means some dead spins turn into winners, and you can see which help is coming next.
A meter with three sections fills only with wins made of god symbols. A three-symbol god win fills one section, four fills two and five fills all three. When it is full and the cascade has ended, you get one free round with the multiplier reset. Each drop that fails to win in that round triggers a god power, in the order Hades, Poseidon, Zeus.
Clearing the whole grid during this round starts free spins. If the round falls short, you return to the base game. This makes reaching the bonus a two-step process, and many full meters end without it, which is part of why the game is rated so volatile.
Before the feature starts you pick a god:
The chosen god’s power fires on every non-winning spin. The multiplier carries over from spin to spin and only resets when the feature ends, growing up to x1000. The feature can run to a maximum of 100 spins.
Zeus gives the most spins up front, which suits players who want a steadier round. Hades starts short but adds the most spins per refill, so it can run longest if the god symbols keep connecting. Poseidon sits in the middle and his Wilds help keep cascades going. The choice does change the feel of the round, though none of them changes the game’s overall return.
The default RTP is 96.2%, and Play’n GO also offers versions down to 84.2%. That gap is large, so check the info screen before playing. Our RTP guide explains why it matters.
Volatility 10 out of 10 means long sessions without much happening are normal. The base game pays small cascades and occasional grid clears; the real value sits in free spins with a high carry-over multiplier. Read our guide to high-volatility slots if you are not used to this kind of swing.
The original Rise of Olympus from 2018 used the same 5×5 grid and the three gods, but this Extreme version sits at the very top of the volatility scale and builds its free spins around a multiplier that carries over up to x1000. If you prefer Greek gods with a different engine, Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus uses pay-anywhere tumbles and random multipliers. More from the studio is on our Play’n GO page. Our Rise of Olympus review covers that original in detail.
What works:
What doesn’t:
Rise of Olympus Extreme is a serious game for patient players. The cascade multiplier, god powers and choice of free spins make it far more involved than most grid slots, and a free spins round with a growing multiplier can be spectacular. The two-step route to the bonus means it can also feel stingy for long periods. If you liked the original and want a much sharper edge, it is worth a try. If you want regular features, look elsewhere.
